Solon sits in the southeast corner of Cuyahoga County, 18 miles from Cleveland and 21 square miles across, on the road that named it: SOM Center Road runs through Solon, Orange and Mayfield townships. The city grew from 2,570 people in 1950 to more than 24,000 at the 2020 census, so its subdivisions were built in waves, and voters kept the small-town look by setting one-acre minimum lots on about 80 percent of the residential land.
One street can hold a 1970s colonial with a brick front, a 1990s two-story in vinyl and a new build with stone veneer and a stamped-concrete patio.
